The child seat (7) is integrated within the dash board (2) of a vehicle and contained in a cavity (6) arranged in the dash board on the passenger side. The child seat faces the passenger seat and the child travels with its back to the windscreen. The child seat is formed with a seat cushion (8) fixedly mounted in the cavity, and a two-part seat back (9 & 10). The lower part of the seat back (9) is mounted inside the cavity, inclined slightly towards the rear with reference to the upper surface of the seat. The seat and the lower part of the back are padded. The upper part (10) of the seat back is formed as padding (10a), which is carried as a continuation of the padding on the lower part of the back, and an upwards extension (11) above the padding. This upwards extension is mounted so that the upper part of the seat back pivots around a horizontal transverse axis and forms a cover to close off the cavity.
