PURPOSE: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion high in sensitivity, low in fog and high in covering power and to provide silver halide photographic sensitive material containing this emulsion and having superior rapid processing aptitude. CONSTITUTION: This silver halide emulsion contains flat coreshell type silver halide grains occupying >=50% of the projection areas of the total silver halide grains having principal [100] faces and comprising substantially silver chlorobromide continuously changing in the silver halide composition of the shell parts.
