The invention relates to a process for chemically cooling a synthesis gas stream of a temperature above 1000 DEG C coming from a gasifier, wherein a hydrocarbon, and optionally water or steam, is introduced directly into the synthesis gas stream; to a process for increasing the efficiency of the electricity production using a synthesis gas stream from a gasifier, wherein a hydrocarbon, and optionally water or steam, is introduced directly into the synthesis gas stream, before the product stream is fed to electricity-generating apparatus; and to a process for producing electrical current using a synthesis gas stream, wherein peaks in the electricity demand can be accommodated and an increased efficiency of the power production is obtained in that the synthesis gas, depending on the increased energy demand, is cooled in a controlled manner by injection of at least one hydrocarbon and optionally water- and/or carbon dioxide stream in combination with the recirculation of already cooled synthesis gas or with the physical cooling with a gaseous hydrocarbon, water or carbon dioxide stream. |
