Tyre-tread design with variable block length

A vehicle tyre has profiled blocks (5,7,8) forming a tread pattern. Each circumferential pair of adjacent blocks (5,7,8) are sepd. by a lateral channel (6) with a base (10) and two sidewalls (12,13) each of which forms part of the adjacent blocks. Channel sidewalls (12',13) (12'',13') form angles ( alpha ', beta ; alpha '', beta ') with radial lines in a plane perpendicular to the tyre axis. With respect to each block pair (5,7; 7,8) the angle ( alpha , beta ) of the channel sidewall forming part of the profiled block with a longer circumferential length at the tread face is smaller than the angle ( alpha , beta ) of the opposing sidewall to a radial line. A variation of the tread form is claimed in which the circumferential length (x,y,z) of the blocks (5,7,8) at the tread surface are different and lengths at the base of the blocks are equal.
