Apparatus for defacing compact discs

Appts. has two sets of confronting knurling wheels (42,44) on parallel shafts and spaced by slightly less than substrate thickness. Two sets of vertical belts (26,28) feed discs downwardly between the wheels. Wheels and belts move at the same speed so that grooves are impressed in the substrates. The belts are pref. of rubber and pass over drive wheels, and the wheels are thin circular discs with a peripheral pattern of cross-grooves. The belts and wheels are pref. carried on separate chassis on respective sides of the wheel gap.
