Prepn. of monotrimethylsilylphosphite (I) comprises reacting phosphorous acid with phosphorous trichloride in stoichiometric amts. so that the compsn. of the reaction prod. has a molecular formula corresponding to that of diphosphorous acid and then in a second step, reacting this prod. at elevated temps. with hexamethyldisiloxan.
