PURPOSE:To improve the cycle life of a square sealed battery and reduce the floor area required for installing the battery by installing cells in such a manner that gravity is perpendicularly applied to the plate surface. CONSTITUTION:Cells connected in series or parallel are installed in a monoblock container. Placing the batteries in such a manner that gravity is perpendicularly applied to the surfaces of plates 1 require a reduced floor area. Furthermore, making gravity to be perpendicularly applied to the plate surface improves nonuniform distributions of electrolyte and its concentration and lso prevents downward migration of zincate ions produced by the electric discharge of the zinc electrode. Consequently, it is possible to improve the cycle life of the battery. |
