Known hydraulic piston and/or diaphragm pumps use electrical energy or a spool valve/control piston for reversal purposes. According to the invention, the novel, self-starting hydraulic or pneumatic piston and/or diaphragm pump should have a purely mechanical structure and operate correctly even at low drive pressure, which is important in particular when the pump operates pneumatically. The novel piston and/or diaphragm pump comprises, on a rod, a working piston and two pumping diaphragms which are connected to an internal rocker via two resilient connections. The pump is reversed by reversal of the four internal valves which are controlled by two permanent magnets secured on a rocker. The pump of the invention is used for purely mechanical delivery of a pumping fluid by the pressure of a drive fluid.
