The invention relates to a structural arrangement consisting of a plurality of surface regions (8, 10, 24, 34, 52) having an optically diffractive relief structure, especially for visually identifiable optical security components for documents of value, e.g. bank notes, credit cards, identity documents or cheques or other items to be made secure; in order to alter the brightness of a surface region (8, 10, 24, 34, 52) without having to provide differing relief structures, it is proposed that the structural arrangement be formed with surface regions (8, 10, 24, 34, 52) having at least two partial regions (12, 14, 26, 28, 36, 38, 48, 50, 54, 56) with an identical relief structure mutually staggered by a fraction of the grid period.
