Strewable chemical binder consists of ground, open-cell phenolic resin foam (I), the acid content of which is neutralised with NH3 or a cpd. releasing NH3. Alkalis, ketones, lyes, amines, acid chlorides, hydrocarbons (including chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons), fuels, oils, organic and inorganic acids, alcohols, salt solns., monomers, emulsions, cleaning fluids and radioactive substances are able to be absorbed.
