The invention relates to pipe clamps and particularly concerns the clamping of pipe ends for their alignment and their external preparation in readiness for jointing. With pipes on, such as, a transport coil or laid in a trench the pipe ends to be jointed are inevitably of a different angular disposition with attendant difficulties in bringing those pipe ends into alignment. The object of the invention is to provide simple and effective means for aligning pipe ends which may additionally be used for their external preparation in readiness for connection. This objective is met by a construction a pipe clamp comprising first and second clamp means 3, 4 each pivotally mounted on a support member 5, 6 drive means 10, 11 extending between each said support member 5, 6 and its respective clamp member 3, 4, a pivotal connection between each drive means 10, 11 and its respective clamp means and at least one of said clamp means 4 and its associated support member 6 being movable with respect to said other of said clamp means 3 and associated support member 5. The second objective is met by the provision of a scraper attachment 24 located between the clamps to which the pipe ends can be introduced. <IMAGE>
