摘要

PURPOSE: To increase the operating speed of driver TFTs and to decrease the off currents of TFTs for switching pixels by composing switching transistors and driver transistors respectively of TFTs consisting of amorphous silicon films and TFTs consisting of crystalline films in their active regions. CONSTITUTION: An LCD 1 has a pixel part 2 having plural pixels arranged in a matrix form and the switching TFTs for pixels and a peripheral circuit part 3 arranged on the circumference of the pixel part 2 of the insulating substrate. The switching TRs of the pixel display part 2 are composed of the TFTs consisting of the amorphous silicon films in their active regions and the driver TRs constituting the peripheral driving circuit part 3 are composed of the TFTs consisting of the crystalline silicon films in the active regions. Further, catalyst elements to assist the crystallization of the amorphous silicon films are included in the crystalline silicon films which are the active regions of the driver TFTs.
