Control assembly for sensors and actuators of IC engined vehicle

A control assembly for sensors and their associated actuator mechanisms for eg the regulation of IC engines via sensors for fuel/air mixture, exhaust contents, coolant temperature etc incorporates a self-checking feature which continuously monitors the sensor currents. A battery connection (VB) energises the sensors (100a to 100d) via the corresponding MOS transistors (111a to 111d) and a current to voltage converter (112) is connected in their common earth return (53). A representative voltage for each sensor current in turn is thus transmitted to the computer (113), A/D converted and compared with corresponding stored norms (f13) as a result of the cyclic switching of the computer elements (f11 f12) during short test periods.
