In the support system for weapons one or more formed elements are built into or inserted into a unit in a selected part of the weapon and/or in a part which is connected to the weapon by the manufacturer and/or the owner and/or the user of the weapon. The unit may be mechanically or electronically operated and must be removable from the weapon and/or separated from the weapon. In one embodiment the weapon has a lock which is operated by a key. The key has a design and/or size and/or shape and/or colour characteristic of the manufacturer or owner. The key is in form of a chip card.
