Back=ventilated foam polystyrene cover plates on building and outer sides

The two cover plates (1,3) are joined via spacers (2) and the cover plate (1) facing the building has a crude density (DIN 53420) of less than 20 kg/m<3> as compared with the outer cover plate (3) whose crude density as per DIN 53420 exceeds 25 kg/m<3>. Preferred crude density of plate (1) is 10-20 kg/m<3> as against 25-50 kg/m<3> for the outer plate (3). The spacers are made of the same material as one or other cover plate and can be integrated with these, or alternatively the plate and spacer can be welded or bonded to one another. The back-ventilated insulating plate comprises foam polystyrene plates bonded or foamed to the second plate and integrated via the spacers between (2). The spacers are designed in this case as strips which run right the way down to leave the ventilating ducts between them (4), or can also be formed by columns giving interconnected ducts if so desired.
