A low-foaming wetting agent consists of (1) 30-90 wt.% of one or more substances of formula R1O-(EO)-H (Ia), R1O-(EO)n-(PO)o-H (Ib) and/or R1O-(PO)p-(EO)q-H (Ic); (2) 70-10 wt.% of one or more substances of formula R2O-(PO)r-H (II); and (3) 0-30 wt.% of one or more substances of formula R3O-(EO)s-H (III). R1, R2 = 4-20C alkyl, 4-20C alkenyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl, 6-12C aryl or 7-10C aralkyl (these last 2 opt. mono-, di- or tri-aryl substd. by 1-12C alkyl); R3 = 12-22C alkyl, 12-22C alkenyl or Ph (opt. mono-, di- or tri-substd. by alkyl gps. to a total of 6-12C); EO, PO = ethylene oxide and propylene oxide units; m, r = each 1-30 (esp. 1-20); n, o, p, q = 1-10; s = 15-50. |
