A punching machine powered by a hydraulic, single acting, spring return cylinder (16) for cutting holes in work such as steel frame beams or strips, comprising a die (12), and a punch (14) driven toward and away from the die for cutting a hole in work (W) being held against the die. The punch (14) has a light passageway (72) extending axially therethrough and being open toward the die (12). A light source such as a laser (74) is provided for projecting an aiming beam from the light passageway toward the die in order to aid in the creation of a hole exactly in a required position on the work. <IMAGE> |
