A method of making a tire having a precisely located applique and said tire. The applique (1) preferably is applied to a green tire case (6) on a tire building drum and placed in curing mold and cured without disfiguring the applique or obtain substantial rejects or blemishes. This method uses an applique (1) formed of a non-staining film, preferably of an acetate or polyester film, printed with a rubberized ink with the ink printed pattern (3) being adhered to a non-staining compatible rubber backing or gum (2).
