Disclosed is a detergent composition comprising components (A) and (B): (A) a glycerin derivative mixture consisting essentially of 25 to 85 % by weight of a monoester compound of glycerin, 5 to 65 % by weight of di- and triester compounds of glycerin, and 10 to 70 % by weight of an alkylene oxide adduct of glycerin; and (B) at least one anionic surface active agent selected from a higher alcohol sulfate, a higher alkyl ether sulfate, or an alpha -olefinsulfonate; the weight ratio of component (A) to component (B), (A)/(B), being (20 to 80)/ (80 to 20); and the total concentration of component (A) and component (B) being 5 to 60 by weight, based on the detergent composition.
