PURPOSE: To provide a chip sucking device capable of improving the workability of work performed with a cover in an expanded/contracted condition. CONSTITUTION: In a device having a cover 26 extending so as to surround the periphery of the extended part 25 of a cutter 11 and shortened/lengthend along the axis direction of the cutter 11 by receiving pressing force at a tip part, a locking means 54 capable of locking the tip part of the cover 26 in a shortened/lengthened condition is provided. The expanded/contracted condition can be kept even when manual pressing force is released.
