PURPOSE: To provide a carriage for linear motion which shows little sliding resistance and sliding characteristics stable for a long time, and dispenses with special measurement adjustment. CONSTITUTION: A carriage 3 for linear motion reciprocates along shafts 1 and 2. Fluorine-including polymer which is diluted by solvent is applied to the shaft or a carriabe sliding part of the carriage 3, followed by heating. A thin film is formed on the shaft or the sliding part. The thin film is made of fuluorine- including polymer whose mean molecular weight is 10 to 5×10.
