Arranged on the outer circumference of the tubular thermoplastic elements (1a, 1b) to be joined is a supporting shell (3) of a material which allows infrared rays to pass through, such as for example quartz glass. Arranged around the supporting shell (3) is an infrared radiation heat source (6), the heating rays of which penetrate the supporting shell (3) and plastify the ends of the tubular elements (1a, 1b) for welding. Arranged on the inner circumference of the tubular elements (1a, 1b) is a supporting device (4), which ensures the build-up of the required welding pressure and ensures welding without any beads or grooves. <IMAGE> |
