摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain the subject friction material secondary particles of magnesia as fillers, capable of suppressing low-frequency allophone while retaining the other characteristics thereof. excellent in attacking ability to the rotor, coefficient of friction and fading-proofness, low in uneven rotor abrasion and squeakiness etc., thus useful for automotive brake pads etc. CONSTITUTION: This non-asbestos-based friction material is obtained by binding reinforcing fibers (e.g. aramid fibers, glass fibers) except asbestos, an organic filler(e.g. cashew dust, melamine dust) and a friction regulator (e.g. molybdenum disulfide, antimony trisulfide) with a thermosetting resin (e.g. phenolic resin, melamine resin). This friction material also contains secondary particles of magnesia at least part of fillers, made by aggregating many primary particles. It is preferable that the secondary particles of magnesia be aggregates of primary particles with a particle diameter of <0.5μm, and 1-5μm in particle diameter and account for 3-20vol.% of the whole friction material.
