PURPOSE: To keep a cushioning function for a large impact force for a long time. CONSTITUTION: A cushioning material is made of a tubular body 10 having an approximately L-shaped cross section. The whole of the tubular body 10 is made of paper or a composite material mainly composed of paper. The tubular body 10 consists of a first component part 12 of an approximately L-shaped cross section disposed over and along two walls of a container C across the internal angle part thereof, a second component part 13 of an approximately L-shaped cross section spaced a distance from the first component part 12 over and along two surfaces of a material to be packaged S across the ridge part thereof, and connecting parts 14, 15 connecting the side edges of the component parts 12, 13 to each other. By recessing inward an intermediate part of a lateral wall part 12B of the first component part 12 in the width direction thereof, a rib 17 projected inward is formed in the lateral wall part 12B to the full length thereof. A recess 19 recessed inward is formed on the outer surface of the lateral wall part 12B to the full length thereof. A band-form reinforcing sheet 22 is provided over the recess 19 along the outer surface of the lateral wall part 12B of the first component part 12. The reinforcing sheet 22 is bonded to the outer surface of the lateral wall part 12B on both sides of the recess 19. |
