<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal printer capable of printing the entire surface of a card by feeding the card by the feed rollers arranged on the upstream and downstream sides of a printing part. CONSTITUTION: A CPU drives a platen roller driving motor to feed a card 12 in a downstream direction and the printing of the first color is performed by a thermal head 22. Since the thermal head 22 has the degree of freedom at the single end thereof at this time, the thermal head can follow the inclination of a platen roller 20. When the printing of the first color over the entire surface of the card 12 is completed, the CPU drives the feed roller driving motor so as to reversely rotate the same to feed the card 12 in the upstream direction. When a leading end detection sensor 80 detects the contact of the leading end of the card 12 at this time, the sensor 80 sends a signal to the CPU to perform control so as to stop the card 12 in front of a vertical guide plate 76. The fed card 12 is aligned by a push plate 78. The printing of colors on and after the second color is successively repeatedly performed by the same operation of the first color.</p> |
