PURPOSE: To obtain a flame resistant polyester composition that can suppress the lowering of contact properties of electrical and electronic parts, the lowering of electrical insulating properties, the release of corrosive gases at the time of molding, and the generation of irritant gases, corrosive gases, and black smoke when burnt and is excellent in flame retardancy, electrical preparties, low-smoking properties, and mechanical properties. CONSTITUTION: There is provided a polyester resin composition that is made up of (1) 100 pts.wt. polyester resin optionally containing halogens, (2) 0.01 to 5 pts.wt. polyvalent alcohol compound having 3 or more hydroxyl groups in the molecule and a hydroxyl group concentration of 1.0×10<-2> to 3.5×10<-2> equivalent/g, (3) 0 to 20 pts.wt. inorganic type flame retardant auxiliary, and (4) 0 to 50 pts.wt. halogen type flame retardant and has a halogen content of 0.1 to 20wt.%.
