PURPOSE: To obtain an electrical insulating material excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties, electrical properties, handleability and processability by mixing a polyester falling in a specific m.p. range with a thermoplastic elastomer and/or an amorphous polyolefin polymer. CONSTITUTION: An electrical insulating material is in the form of a film comprising a polyester having a m.p. of 230 to 280 deg.C and a thermoplastic elastomer and/or an amorphous polyolefin polymer mixed therewith at a wt. ratio of 70:30 to 98:2, and having a thickness of 1 to 500μ. It is pref. that the polyester constituting the film be mainly made of polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene naphthalate. This film can be not only singly used as an insulating material for a wide variety of uses in the whole range of electric and electronic apparatuses, such as taping for electric and electronic apparatuses, insulation in slots for mutual insulation of steps, use as a constituent material of a condenser, etc., but also used as one material of a composite material. for use in fabricated articles formed by laminating the film on cloth, paper, glass, or other inorg. insulating material.
