<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shut off an engine-running power source and scrutinize a key or lock switch operator means if two security codes are unequal to each other, by storing one of the security codes in the lock switch operator means and connecting a theft control module storing the other code between the switch and electric engine-running devices. SOLUTION: A security system 8 includes a key 24 that carries an electronic memory device or transponder 26 storing a security code and operates a lock switch 30. A theft control module 10 transmits an inquiry signal to an antenna 28 near the lock switch 30 to compare the security code from the transponder 26 and a security code stored in a memory 12 in the theft control module 10. If the former code is found not equal to the latter, an electronic engine controller 14 receives an engine-disabling control signal and disconnects a fuel pump 18, fuel injectors 20 and an ignition system 22.</p> |
