PURPOSE: To provide a retractor for a seat belt having a compact pretensioner capable of making effective use of the gas pressure of a driving means, and smoothly transmitting the winding drive force to a winding shaft. CONSTITUTION: A rack capable of transmitting the rotating torque in the belt winding direction to a winding shaft of a retractor through a pinion gear is pressed with the gas pressure in the collision of a vehicle. A planetary gear device 35 is arranged between a pinion gear and a clutch outer ring 12 so as to increase the rotation of the clutch outer ring 12 capable of intermittently transmitting the torque to the winding shaft through a clutch mechanism 30. |
