One of the bars can incorporate an extensible ball-point pen, and the other an extensible bar-type lamp. A compression spring mechanism can be provided, to lock the bar parts together. Bayonet couplings can be provided, to secure the pen in the extended position and form the electrical contact for the lamp. The bars can be accommodated in passages through a holder (4). The latter can also have a pair of tweezers and a toothpick, and can form a stand for the bars.
