The bicycle carrier has two horizontal U-shaped out-riggers which project from the vehicle boot. The parts of the carrier are telescopic in construction. Jointed connections are provided for the individual tubes of the upper out-rigger and jointed fasteners secure them to the vertical supports of the base frame. The base frame is supported by stays on the front and rear walls of the boot cavity.
