The electrically driven instrument display has electrical connections (16) which insert into knife edge contacts (21) which on connecting the instrument display are pressed against a ribbon cable (25), piercing the insulation material and making i.p.c.d. electrical contact with the wires (27) of the cable. The contacts (21) are housed in a connector block (19) with fixing devices (20) which engage in a backplate (28) holding the ribbon cable in position.
