The prodn. of poly-tetramethylene-ether-glycol diesters of formula R-CO-O-(CH2CH2CH2CH2-O)n-COR1 (I) comprises the polymerisation of THF in the presence of a carboxylic acid anhydride (II) and a calcined magnesium-aluminium-hydro-silicate (III) as catalyst. In (I), R and R1 = alkyl gp. or deriv. thereof; and n = 2-200.
