New derivs. of valproic acid

Valproic acid derivs. of formula (I), their enantiomers and salts, are new. R1 = C=CH, CH=CH2 or Et; R2 = opt. unsatd. 1-30C alkyl, opt. substd. with an aliphatic or aromatic 3-9C cyclohydrocarbon or heterocyclic gp.; and M = H or a metal atom; provided that (a) (I) is not 2-n-propyl-4-pentynoic acid or 2-n-propyl-4-pentenoic acid, and (b) when R1 = Et; then R2 = 5-30C alkyl. 92 Cpds. (I) are specifically claimed, including 2-n-butyl- 4-pentynoic acid; 2-n-pentyl- 4-pentynoic acid; and 2-n-hexyl- 4-pentynoic acid.
