Welding of plastic socket onto plastic pipe

In a process for connecting a plastic socket (12) onto a plastic pipe (11), both pieces (11,12) are mfd. separately and the opposing faces of both pipe (11) and socket (12) correspond to each other. An electrically heated welding mat (1) is introduced between the faces to be welded and when current is applied to the mat (1) the opposing faces of the components (11,12) are pressed together.
