The instrument has a body (10) contg. a metallic material and a sacrificial electrode (30,34,36) electrically connected to the body and inserted into a bore (11;18;28) in the body. The bore can be a blind hole or a channel open at one side formed in or on the body. Alternatively, it can be a connection for a fluid feed or outlet line (12;19), whereby the connection is formed in or on the body and the sacrificial electrode can be inserted, plugged or screwed into it when the line is not connected. The sacrificial electrode can be a metal carrier body with an electrically connected part consisting of a self-sacrificing material.
