The switch has a circular rotor (3) and a stator which generates switch instructions dependent on the angular setting of the rotor. The rotor and stator are separated by a control face of the domestic appliance. The rotor contains a housing part with permanent magnets (9) at its periphery. The switch has a second housing part (8) which moves in the axial direction. The second housing part has a further permanent magnet (11) at its centre. The stator has a similar magnetism-sensitive switch element.
