Flesh is separated mechanically from solid material through a cylindrical sieve (6) with a number of holes (60). An endless screw (4b) is mounted coaxially with the sieve and rotates to push material along and flesh through the openings in the sieve. The internal wall (61) of the sieve has a helical groove (7a) which turns in the opposite direction to the thread of the endless screw.
