Reactors (1) which are opened from time-to-time and which contain combustible substances are made inert with N2 gas to which ar and/or CO2 is added so that the density of the gas mixture is pref. <2-5% more than the density of the ambient atmosphere. A source (3) for N2 gas is connected via a pipeline (2) to a mixer (4), to which the additive gas is supplied from a source (7) via a second pipeline (9). The latter pipeline contains a control device (10) and a pressure sensor (12) is connected to the interior of the mixer. |
