The instrumentation column (5) is held, via an annular metal seal ring (16) and bearing (14) inside a mounting that has a tubular section (8) and a closure plate (11) bolted together. The support surfaces (33a, 34) of the tubular section and the closure plate are rotationally symmetric about the axis of the instrumentation column (5) and are in direct contact metal to metal to ensure a seal against the water under pressure inside the reactor.
