Multipolarized omnidirectional transceiver antenna system

The system includes a first antenna (1) which is unidirectional in a first direction defined by two orthogonal planes. A second antenna (2) is unidirectional in a second direction defined by two orthogonal planes. The two antennae are arranged so their radiating directions are orthogonal. An omnidirectional radiation diagram is obtained from the bidirectional components. A coupling circuit (3) ensures combination of the phase and amplitude of the reception signals (e1,e2) to obtain a circular radiation diagram in the horizontal direction. The coupling circuit introduces a controlled phase shift between the components which are then summed to achieve a resultant reception signal.
