<p>An airbag module lockable electrical connector assembly including an initiator base (10) having a pair of legs (13, 16) extending therefrom and having a plurality of male electrical terminals (20) positioned therebetween. Each of the legs (13, 16) has a radially inward protruding element (22, 26) having two tapered surfaces (24, 25, 28, 29) forming a ramp. A complementary electrical connector (20) has a plurality of female electrical terminals (32) housed therein which mate with the male electrical terminals (20) and radially inwardly extending notches (34, 37) adapted to mesh essentially complementarily with and engage the protruding elements (22, 26) of the initiator base (10) for locking the connector (30) onto the initiator base (10). The connector has a tapered insertion surface (36a, 36b) and one tapered surface (34, 37) of each notch constitutes an extraction surface (35, 39). The geometry, e.g. taper, of the tapered surfaces provides a removal force substantially greater than the insertion force.</p> |
