PURPOSE: To obtain a high-quality image on which character strings are arranged and character size and character space are unified by converting the image so that sizes of the formed images formed by 1st and 2nd image forming means are almost equal to each other apparently. CONSTITUTION: For example, the resolution of an image forming part A capable of forming the image with high resolution is set to 600dpi, and the resolution of an image forming part B capable of forming the image with low resolution is set to 300dpi. In a monochrome image mode, resolution converting processing and smoothing processing are performed to data transferred from a host, and the image is formed on a recording medium P with high resolution such as 600dpi by the image forming part A, whereby recording with high image quality is performed. Meanwhile, in a color image mode, a monochrome part is formed as the image on the recording medium P with the resolution such as 300dpi by the image forming part A and a color part is formed as the image on the recording medium P with the resolution such as 300dpi by the image forming part B based on the image data with the resolution such as 300dpi transferred from the host. |
