PURPOSE: To prolong the useful life of a heat accumulator and thereby to reduce the number of times of replacement thereof in a furnace equipped with a regenerative type burner wherein the heat accumulator is heated by using exhaust gas and combustion air is preheated by passing it through this heat accumulator. CONSTITUTION: Heat accumulators 3A to 3D are attached in twos to respective paired heating burners 2A and 2B disposed at the main body 1 of a heating furnace. The heating burners 2A and 2B are started by using one of the heat accumulators 3A and 3B in one set and one of 3C and 3D in the other alternately, while a jet pulse is sent into the other in each set of the heat accumulators 3A to 3D which is out of operation and thereby a contaminant of exhaust gas sticking to a heat accumulating medium 3a inside the heat accumulator is peeled off and removed. |
