PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium capable of enhancing magnetic characteristics by considerably improving the orienting property of acicular magnetic powder in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION: In a magnetic recording medium 1 with a magnetic layer 3 on the nonmagnetic substrate 2, acicular magnetic powder 4 is used in the magnetic layer 3. Both end parts 6A and the body part 6B of the acicular magnetic powder have been surface-treated with different elements so as to improve orienting property and the magnetic characteristics of the resultant magnetic recording medium are enhanced. |
