PURPOSE: To provide a magnetoresistance element which is less affected by magnetic flux generated from a track other than a track for reading a magnetic disk medium and has a large output level. CONSTITUTION: A magnetoresistance element containing a sensing region for detecting an external magnetic field and a terminal region located at both edges while sandwiching the sensing region is provided with a magnetoresistance film 14 existing at only the sensing region, a hard magnetic body film 17 for controlling the magnetic domain of the magnetoresistance film 14 by applying a magnetic field only to one direction while being present at the terminal region, and an insulation film 15 formed on the entire surface of the magnetoresistance film 14. Also, the insulation film 15 may be formed at a part which is seen from the section opposing at least a magnetic disk medium on the magnetoresistance film. |
