PURPOSE: To provide a developing method for forming a thin developer layer capable of performing the non-contact developing on the developer carrier surface and excellently making a latent image visible without causing clogging of the foreign matter such as a paper fiber or the developer aggregation body by the simple constitution. CONSTITUTION: In the method for forming the layer of the two component developer containing the non-magnetic toner and the magnetic carrier on the developing roll 310 consisting of the fixed magnetic roll 312 and the non- magnetic sleeve 311 disposed in rotatably outside the magnetic roll 312 with the gap held between the non-magnetic roll member 320a and the developer carrier, the device is constituted so that the non-magnetic roll member 32Oa is moved to the trimming position by the developer flow when the developing roll 310 is rotated, while the non-magnetic roll member 320a is moved away by the pressure of the elastic member 320c in the tangential direction with respect to the developer carrier when the developing roll 310 is stopped from rotating. |
