PURPOSE: To provide a heat transfer printer which can transfer print to the whole card surface except an IC section in the case of printing an IC card and also transfer print to the whole surface of a material to be printed usually. CONSTITUTION: The face of a heating roller 16 is so set as to overlap a recessed section 16 formed on the outer peripheral face with an IC section 11 of an IC card 10, and a film 3 as an intermediate recording medium is carried to a position where an ink image 9 formed on the film 3 is overlapped with the IC card 10. Then, a heating roller 16 having developed heat for heaters inside and a pressure roller are rotated in the arrow direction to carry the IC card 10, and simultaneously the ink image 9 on the film 3 is transfer printed on the IC card 10. At that time, the IC section 11 of the IC card 10 is controlled so that the recessed section 16a of the heating roller 16 is brought on, and the heat and pressure of the heating roller 16 are not applied, nor the transfer printing of the ink image 9 is performed. |
