PURPOSE: To obtain an abnormality detection device for an exhaust valve which detects abnormality of the exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine before causing damage of an engine main body. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic driving exhaust valve device for internal combustion engine has a vicinity switch 6 installed at a position unmoving for detecting an opening/closing timing of an exhaust valve 1, and data treatment devices 7 to 13 which determine normality/abnormality based on comparison of detection data of the vicinity switch, namely, a crank angleθ'0 of the opening exhaust valve, a crank angleθ'c of the closing exhaust valve, and preset normal valuesθ0 ,θc and transmit corresponding signals at the time of abnormality.
