PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin compsn. which is excellent in flame retardancy and moldability and retains the mechanical strengths inherent in the resin used by compounding a resin with specified amts. of specific flame retardants. CONSTITUTION: This resin compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. resin (e. g. PP) with 10-25 pts.wt. ammonium polyphosphate, 1-19 pts.wt. polyhydroxy compd. (e.g. dipentaerythritol), and 1-19 pts.wt. reaction product from a triazine compd. having at least two unsubstd. amino groups (e.g. melamine), an aldehyde (e.g. HCHO), and a 2C or higher amine compd. having no triazine ring (e.g. piperazine) as the flame retardants. Pref. ammonium polyphosphate has an average particle size of 40μm or lower and dissolves in water by 1g or lower when 10 g of it is dispersed in 90ml water and left standing for 30min.
